Proposition. The adelic spinor kernel [fcap-004O]
Proposition. The adelic spinor kernel [fcap-004O]
Let \(Q\) be nondegenerate on a finite-dimensional rational space \(V\), and let \(U\) be a compatible compact-open reference tuple. Use the finite adelic spinor norm \(\Theta :SO_f(U)\to C_f(U)\), with its actual reference images \(I_p=\theta _p(U_p^{SO})\). Its kernel, called the adelic spinor kernel, is \[\ker \Theta =\{g\in SO_f(U):\theta _p(g_p)=1\text { for every prime }p\}.\] Give this subgroup the subspace topology from \(SO_f(U)\). The continuous Spin projection \(\rho _f\) of Proposition [fcap-004J] corestricts to a continuous homomorphism \[\bar \rho _f:\operatorname {Spin}_f(U)\longrightarrow \ker \Theta , \qquad (s_p)_p\longmapsto (\rho _p(s_p))_p.\] The formula retains exactly the same coordinates as \(\rho _f\).
The triangle records the factorization, with \(j\) the subgroup inclusion and no surjectivity assigned to either Spin arrow.
For a rational proper isometry \(g\in SO(V,Q)\), write \(\delta _f^{SO}(g)=(g_p)_p\) for its rational diagonal, and put \[j_p:\mathbb Q^{\times }/(\mathbb Q^{\times })^2\longrightarrow C_p, \qquad [a]_{\mathbb Q}\longmapsto [a]_{\mathbb Q_p}.\] Scalar-extension naturality from Theorem [fcap-003N] gives \[\bigl (\Theta (\delta _f^{SO}(g))\bigr )_p =j_p\bigl (\nu _Q(g)\bigr ).\] Consequently \(\nu _Q(g)=1\) implies \(\delta _f^{SO}(g)\in \ker \Theta \), since every homomorphism \(j_p\) sends the identity to the identity. No converse is asserted. The cited naturality proof covers positive dimension; in dimension zero the identity is the only proper isometry, so the same formula holds directly. If \(\dim V\leq 1\), all local SO groups, hence \(SO_f(U)\) and \(\ker \Theta \), are trivial, as in Definition [fcap-004N]. In dimension zero the actual Spin carrier is also trivial Lemma [fcap-003H]; no additional scalar sign is introduced.
For an arbitrary \(g\in \ker \Theta \), Theorem [fcap-0023] supplies a Spin lift of each local \(g_p\). Choosing these lifts separately does not prove that they belong to the chosen \(U_p^{\operatorname {Spin}}\) at all but finitely many primes. Thus the local lifting theorem alone does not establish surjectivity of \(\bar \rho _f\) for the chosen reference tuple.
The local reverse-norm argument is grounded in
[chevalley1954algebraic, II.3.5-6, pp. 52-53], with the
even-lift convention explained in Theorem [fcap-0023].
The kernel description and continuous corestriction above are
deductions from that local theorem and the restricted-product map.
