Proposition. Graph and orthogonal stabilizers [fdip-005I]

The stabilizers also distinguish the two notions. For the alternating four-cycle family, with weights \((a,b,a,b)\), \(m>0\), and \(R=\{0,2\}\), the stabilizer of \((Q,P_R)\) in \(O(4)\) is \((C_2)^2\) if \(a\ne b\), and \((C_2)^3\) if \(a=b\). The signed graph stabilizers are respectively \(C_2\) and \(C_2\times C_2\). By contrast, the orthogonal stabilizer of \(Q\) alone is continuous when \(a=b\); it contains \(O(2)\) on the repeated eigenspace.
