Remark. The potential term [fdip-00AJ]

The multiplication operator \(M_V\) is the potential term of a lattice Schrödinger operator, added to a difference operator. The assignment \(f\mapsto M_f\) is how a field acts on its own module, and \(M_f M_g=M_g M_f\). A shift need not commute with \(M_f\). That product is the operator product of Proposition [fdip-0011], and Example [fdip-00AP] computes the failure on a cycle.
